The Tory MP who described a no deal Brexit as a ‘n***** in the woodpile’ has been suspended.
Anne Marie Morris, MP for Newton Abbott, made the racist remark while talking about financial services deal the UK could strike with Brussels post-2019.

The party has now confirmed that she’s had the whip suspended.
After using the disturbing, outdated and extremely offensive term while addressing an audience of eurosceptics, none of her fellow panellists reacted.
Morris told a launch organised by the Poletia group and held at the East India Club that just 7% of financial services in the UK would be affected by Brexit.

‘Now I’m sure there will be many who’ll challenge that, but my response and my request is look at the detail, it isn’t all doom and gloom,’ she said.
‘Now we get to the real n***** in the woodpile, which is in two years, what happens if there is no deal?’
After the recording was publicised, there were widespread calls for her to have the whip removed.

A Conservative spokesman said: ‘We are aware of these reports, this kind of language is completely unacceptable, and we are urgently investigating.’
And Theresa May reportedly said: ‘I think it is beholden on us all that we use appropriate language at all times.’
Morris herself apologised for using the n-word, saying: ‘The comment was totally unintentional. I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused.’
